The End of Summer

Hello, Everyone!!!.

I brought this two piece set from Target at least two years ago and it's still trendy today. I've worn the pieces of this set on the blog, however only with other pieces in my closet but never together. It goes to show you if you shop smart for trendy pieces, you should be able to rework them for different seasons with other items. It is that time of the year when the early morning temperatures are slightly cooler than midday so I decided to pair the two piece set with a denim jacket. The head to toe print allowed me to keep the accessories and shoes nice and simple.

Bombs Over Brooklyn

Hello, Everyone!!!!.

I can't believe we are literally days away from Fall. Last friday we got a brief preview of what's to come,  hence the floral print bomber I have draped over my shoulders.  Fall happens to be one of my seasons because I can get away with wearing my summer favorites with this bomber jacket. Bomber jackets are a must have for fall and very versatile. I wore this outfit to class and then later for date night. I paired the floral bomber jacket with highwaisted pants and a tank top that I cropped myself. I've been wearing my D.I.Y choker with pretty much everything, so it made the perfect accessory with the bomber.

Two 90's trend in one outfit for the win !!

Essence Style

Hello, Everyone!!!.

I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to take pictures in front of this colorful brick wall along the BQE, and luckily I was giving the opportunity last weekend, thanks to the Essence Street Style Block Party in Dumbo. I went to the first annual Essence Street Style with my mom but this time around I went with my boyfriend.

When we first arrived, we made a beeline for the food trucks to gain some energy for the festivities. As always they were plenty of natural hair and style stars in the building. I saw some of my favorite bloggers including honoree Blake Von D, HeyGorJess, Taren Guy, and also singer Kelly Rowland. After being in the scorching heat for hours, it was nice to top the day off with a refreshing pineapple filled with Blue Hawaiian cocktail.  Sorry I didn't get any pics, it was just too good I couldn't resist.

P.S. I have to give full credit to my boyfriend who helped me picked out my outfit because I matched so seamlessly with the background.

Welcome to Spring

Hello, Everyone!!!

It may be Spring however mother nature has been playing a cruel joke on us in the Tri-state area. You know something is wrong when you still able to wear your favorite winter clothes blended in with your favorite fall clothes as picture below. At the beginning of the week I found myself wearing a oversized turtleneck dress with cognac over the knee boots and my camel cape  I felt I could get away with wearing it as a dress to embrace the "no pants trend" made popular by celebs. However I do not have the luxury of the warm weather as in LA, so I paired the dress with thick opaque tights for warmth. I've changed up the look up by belting the dress with a cognac skinny belt which matches the oversized bag rather than the over the knee boots. Since the weather can be unpredictable from early morning to mid afternoon, I've made a conscious decision to wear my hair in a high bun. It allows me to protect my natural hair from unnecessary heat damage.

Fall Dressing

Hello, Everyone!!!.

If this dress doesn't look familiar to you, well it should. I wore it at the very beginning of summer (seen HERE) when the weather was picture perfect unlike the weather we are experiencing today in the tri-state area. I decided to wear a dress on the last hot and humid day of the season before it becomes inappropriate to wear sandals and expose my bare legs to the Fall chill. I made the dress fall- appropriate by layering with a boxy blazer that I found at the thrift store if you couldn't tell by the huge shoulder pads. I swapped out the platform wedges for lace up wedged sandals because it gives the illusion of a knee high boot. I accessorized with my faithful floppy hat and silver hoops instead of silver bangles.

T is for T-shirts

Hello, Everyone!!!.

Who doesn't love a good graphic tee especially on those days when you want to dress casually. Earlier in the week, I choose the ultimate model "off- duty" uniform which consist of the basics, t-shirt and jeans. You can wear the t-shirt and jeans combination for either work or play. It is a fool-proof outfit that will always work. I brought this Jimi Hendrix graphic t-shirt from Target they have a great selection of pop stars graphic t-shirts for women. To dress up the graphic t-shirt I paired it with a black blazer. A black blazer is an essential in every women wardrobe, they add the right amount of polish to any outfit especially your rolled up jeans. I jazzed up the look by adding caged sandals and large hoop earrings.

Camo Chic

Hello, Everyone!!!!.

Thanks to the fall- like temperatures over the weekend I woke up knowing exactly what I was going to wear,  starting with this oversized camouflage jacket. When I brought this camo jacket it was my exact size however after my weight loss it is about two sizes too big but I refuse to throw it away and have decided to wear it oversized from now on. It is best to pair oversized tops or jackets with more form- fitting bottoms to avoid looking disheviled. It was a no- brainer for me to pair my camo jacket with a taupe midi pencil skirt. It may be hard to believe but camo print is a neutral and can be mixed and matched with everything as well as other neutrals. I decided to pair it with taupes and blacks to complete the look. I tucked the black crop top into the taupe skirt to give the illusion of a bodysuit. Obviously I'm in a fall state of mind and choose a vampy purple lipstick instead of the usual pink lipstick and "Voilia" I was ready for my weekend classes.
