Essence Style

Hello, Everyone!!!.

I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to take pictures in front of this colorful brick wall along the BQE, and luckily I was giving the opportunity last weekend, thanks to the Essence Street Style Block Party in Dumbo. I went to the first annual Essence Street Style with my mom but this time around I went with my boyfriend.

When we first arrived, we made a beeline for the food trucks to gain some energy for the festivities. As always they were plenty of natural hair and style stars in the building. I saw some of my favorite bloggers including honoree Blake Von D, HeyGorJess, Taren Guy, and also singer Kelly Rowland. After being in the scorching heat for hours, it was nice to top the day off with a refreshing pineapple filled with Blue Hawaiian cocktail.  Sorry I didn't get any pics, it was just too good I couldn't resist.

P.S. I have to give full credit to my boyfriend who helped me picked out my outfit because I matched so seamlessly with the background.

My Current Favorites

Hello, Everyone!!!.

I'm sorry I've been M.I.A lately but I've been putting my focus on job hunting this summer. I had two interviews so far but unfortunately  I was not offered the position. It has been a real learning curve for me but it hasn't stopped me from continuing my job search. I have faith that what is meant for me , will be for me. On another note, I can't believe the summer is half way through however I've  discovered  a few things that has become my summer favorites which I listed below.

1.Glamour: If you are unaware the September issue is the most coveted issue of the fashion year. Not only is the issue the biggest , it prepares you for the upcoming fall season. I've been wearing my hair in its natural state this summer and I've been looking for ways to wear my hair in the colder months. I am happy to see that hair accessories are in ,so I can adorn my fro with dazzling goods.

2. Movies & Chill: The Secret Lives of Pets because I am a big kid and every weekend my boyfriend always catches me watching cartoons,  so it was right up my alley.

Jason Bourne: I joked that Matt Damon may be too old for this series but it was actually good.
*spoiler alert they killed my girl Julia from Save the Last Dance which is one of my favorite teen movies 😐.

Now You See Me: This one was my boyfriend choice, although I didn't see the first one I actually liked.  If they make it into a trilogy I will go see it with him of course.

3. Adult coloring: There is a reason why children love to color and their parents as well. It is so calming and I honestly feel less stressed because my mind is not all over the place. I like to turn off my TV and just color away in complete silence.

4. Clutch: I like to call it my "throw it in the bag" clutch because I literally throw everything I need, just the bare minimum it comes in handy on date nights.

5. Highlighter: If you ever in Five Below you should check out their makeup section.  I've found this amazing highlighter that is perfect for wearing over your foundation or mixed in for all over glow.

6. Nail polish:  Like I've mentioned before I am on a job hunt and this grayish nude is the perfect color to wear to interviews or in my case all summer too.

7. Milani lip liner: I like to wear it as a lip color and sometimes I add gloss to the middle of my lips. It's the perfect lip color but better

8. Sonia Kashuk knockout eye shadow palette : I only wear neutral eye shadows so this palette is perfect. If you are like  me and need help with application, this palette shows you the way.

And lastly my fave sunnies for obvious reasons
*not a new fave  😎

Until next time,  XOXO

Summer '16 Playlist

Hello Everyone!!!

If you live in North America, you know we are experiencing heat waves, left and right from the West to East Coast. I cannot lie this extreme heat makes me not want to do anything but take several trips to the beach to get my summer tan which I did over the weekend with my boyfriend. Any beach day requires tanning oil, towels, beach umbrella and lastly swimwear, I prefer one piece or high waist bottoms. It is not complete without a few good magazines and music. Here are some of my favorite songs of Summer Sixteen and some classic summer jams.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Summertime

Calvin Harris - This Is What You Came For (Official Video) ft. Rihanna

Miguel - How Many Drinks? (Remix) ft. Kendrick Lamar

Maroon 5 - This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like A Motherf****r (Explicit)

Beyoncé - Baby Boy

Salt-N-Pepa - Shoop

Rihanna- Work

Curlfest 2016

Hello, Everyone !!!.

Over the weekend, my boyfriend and I went to a natural hair festival known as CurlFest hosted by the lovely ladies of the Curly Girl Collective. I was unable to attend last year so I was happy to bring my boyfriend along with me for my first time. When we arrived at Prospect Park  the line was super long but it moved with ease. Unfortunately by the time we got to the entrance , they were out of goodie bags but I was able to snag some samples from Cantu, Shea Moisture and Tropical Isle. I definitely spotted natural hair youtubers including Actually Ashly, SunkissAlba, Notorious Kia and  Maria Antoinette to name a few. The crowd was filled with natural hair men and women with great style. We left about a hour before the fun ended but we had a blast nonetheless. I will be returning back next year and I will take sure to arrive much earlier and take a lot more pictures.

#29Rooms

Hello, Everyone!!!.

I hope you had a great weekend I know I did. .Over the weekend I saw the movie " The Visit" with my boyfriend and earlier in the day I dragged my mom with me to go to Refinery 29's 10th anniversary celebration in Brooklyn called 29 ROOMS which was open to the public during New York Fashion Week. When we arrived to the warehouse, we were told by security that the wait time was three hours and he wasn't lying. Honestly I was not expecting such a high crowd or wait time however in the age of social media that is to be expected. After about two and a half of hour waiting we were finally in, each group were given 29 minutes to view all 29 rooms. Here is look inside the 29ROOMS that we captured.

Summer Moments: Part 2

Hello, Everyone!!!. Last week was full of firsts for me, I did things I never thought I would do ever. The summertime is perfect trying out new things and going on mini adventures in your own city. On Wednesday I went to see a movie by myself in the park (very usually for me BTW).

During the summer, the city offers movies screening for free in the parks. I watched the movie The Neighbors at the Hudson River Park in Chelsea Piers. I came fully prepared with my snacks and towel and tow. After the movie I met up with my boyfriend and we had drinks on the water.

On another note,  Coney Island has always been a favorite of mine ever since I was a kid. It has definitely changed from what I remember. Last weekend I was surprised by my boyfriend when he took me to Coney Island although it wasn't my first time there however I never been on the Ferris Wheel because I'm slightly afraid of heights. However I bite the bullet and faced my fears.

And what better way than to go with your partner in crime #countmein. Let's just say I had a good time and plan on creating more summer memories.
