Into the Groove

Hello, Everyone !!!.

I think I've worn denim on denim , millions of times on my blog ( seen HERE , HERE and HERE). What can I say, it is definitely my go-to combination. This time around I decided to trade in my favorite skinny jeans for a vintage - style denim skirt from Boohoo. According to the dressing rules for pear shaped women (i.e.  women who are heavy on bottom than on top) are suppose to stick to A - line dresses and skirts. Clearly I've ignored that rule and choose to accentuate my hips with this figure hugging pencil skirt. To pull off the denim on denim look off, its best to choose denim pieces in two different variations.  I paired the denim skirt with a sleeveless denim shirt that I tied at the waist so my shape won't disappear. The sunglasses I'm wearing are truly vintage, they were passed down to me from a family friend. These sunglasses give a 70's vibe with my big hair and long denim skirt.

Jumpin', Jumpin'

Hello. Everyone!!!.

Summer is slowly ending kicking and screaming. I am looking forward to the days when I can wear a light jacket or sweater draped over my shoulders on my way to school. Fortunately yesterday I got my wish, I woke up to thunder and heavy downpours which gave the tri-state area a much needed cool down. Originally I planned on wearing denim cuts with a t-shirt and sleeveless vest but that quickly changed when I listened to the weatherman and witnessed it for myself. I decided to go with an all black outfit featuring my new wide leg jumpsuit. This jumpsuit saved my life one day when I was caught in a unexpected intense thunderstorm during a family cook-out. We had to end the festivities earlier then expected but the damage was done, we were all drenched from head-to-toe. I had plans to go to movie theatre with my boyfriend to see "Straight Outta Compton" later that evening and I couldn't go home to change so I had to think fast.

While walking to meet up with him, I ran into a reasonably priced boutique in Downtown Brooklyn where I found this lovely jumpsuit. Thank God I was wearing the right accessories and shoes that complimented the jumpsuit so well. Like every other shopaholic, I just need one reason to buy something new especially a chic jumpsuit. Yesterday I paired the halter- top style jumpsuit with a oversized open cardigan to keep me warm under air condition situations. I choose a gold metal-plated to cinch in my waist and gold thong sandals to finish the look. To add a bold pop of color to my outfit, I choose a red lipstick by the brand Black Radiance. Recently I mentioned that I adore this brand you should definitely check them out for yourself.
You will not regret it.....

Top it off with Lace

Hello, Everyone!!!.

I am reluctant to announce that it is the beginning of the Fall semester for me. I felt like I went through hell and high water to be able to get my schedule and register for classes so I'm happy to say I am back in school. My foolproof outfit normally consist of all black because it easy to put together on the mornings I have to leave super early. However, yesterday I added a dash of white to what could've been an all black outfit. I decided to pair my black midi skirt with a lace top that I cropped myself. I wore a bandeau under the top to conceal all of my goodies. Recently I've been wearing these hoop earrings with everything. I accessorized with ankle strap sandals and a large CĂ©line-inspired handbag. I kept my makeup neutral with settle highlight and pink lip gloss.

Two Ways to a Denim Bustier

Hello. Everyone,

I guess you could say I am having a denim only week. Denim is very versatile and I honestly can't have enough of it. In my last blog post, I mentioned I went on a denim shopping excursion online. Once I saw the denim bustier and matching midi skirt I knew I had to have it. Immediately I thought of millions of ways I can wear the bustier with items in my current wardrobe.

Yesterday I decided to pair the denim bustier with a pair of printed trousers from H&M. I picked out the navy blue in the pants to match the bustier perfectly. I decided to do a protective style with my own hair by braiding it in a halo crown braid to show off the exposed zipper in the back. I accessorized with simple understated sandals and long hoop earrings.

On another note, matching coordinate sets are the easiest ways to get dress for any occasion. If I were to wear this denim bustier for a dinner date night. To transition the denim bustier from day to night I would pair it with the matching skirt and swap out the mid- heeled sandals for ankle strap high heels. I would add a bold red lip as well and swap the day handbag for a large clutch.

Denim Dressing

Hello, Everyone!!!.

Recently I've been searching for the perfect denim shirtdress, denim skirts and denim tops other than the usual button down. Over the summer I've discovered a UK based website named Boohoo. It is extremely affordable online site and it is easy to convert from US sizing to UK sizing. I placed an order on the site that consist of a denim co-ordinate sets of in dark and light denim. During that shopping experience I thought I would try another affordable online store that people rave about on YouTube named Fashion Nova and "Voila!!" I found the perfect denim shirtdress.

The shirtdress has the perfect oversized shape that is great to dress up or down. It has a high- low hem to provide extra coverage of your derriere but shorter in the front to show off your legs and fabulous shoes. I wore denim cutoffs underneath my denim shirtdress because of the curved split on both sides.

In the Fall I plan on swapping the denim cut-offs for leather leggings and suede ankle boots. I paired the shirtdress with tan caged sandals and a fringe bag from H&M. I added a pop of color with my fuchsia lips but I keep my face neutral and bronzed. I finished the look with a gold chain necklace and a half-up, half-down hairstyle.
