Cape Blazer: Birthday Edition

 

 

 

Hello, Everyone!!!

 

 

I can wear leather any day out the week but on my birthday it made me feel quite sexy. As I get older, I don't feel the need to go on a mad dash to find the perfect "birthday" outfit. This year I decided to put together a sexy leather outfit with pieces I already owned. My foundation pieces included a leather sleeve graphic T-shirt and pencil skirt. I layered a peplum top over the T-shirt to give the illusion of a leather peplum dress. The only new edition to this look is a cape blazer from Who What Wear collection for Target  when I purchased it at the beginning of the month I had no idea I would wear it on my birthday but it just made sense. The Who What Wear collection is full updated basics and I want it all. Particularly I have my eyes on the cobalt blue moto jacket and the floral pencil skirt which I would probably wear together or separately. The boots are semi- new as well since I have yet to wear them. I swapped out my school bag for a small black clutch and violia I was ready to celebrate my day in style.

Hello, Everyone!!!!. 

 

Today I turn 28 years old!!!. I can't believe I am two years away from being 30 however I am definitely grateful to live to see another year. I'm not a big birthday party person because I do not like going to clubs. Normally I just have birthday dinner and drinks with family or friends to celebrate my day. However my boyfriend has made secret plans for me this year. Cue the song, "I'm so excited and I just can't hide it".  The only thing I have to do now is put together an amazing outfit that can get me through the night which I'm still debating as we speak. Now let's get into my last outfit as a 27 year old woman. Although it was very cold yesterday as you can tell by the wind in my hair, I refuse to put away my summer skirts. You can not tell by the photos but I found a cool way to wear this thin midi skirt by wearing skinny jeans underneath rather than stockings which currently I am on the hunky for the perfect skin tone tights to wear with non black skirts and boots. I paired the skirt with a chunky turtleneck sweater dress that I tucked in the front to wear as a top. Finally I accessorized with a oversized wrap coat and cognac accessories.

Midi skirts are a curvy girl best friend. Although midi skirts may seem matronly but for as far as I can remember I always loved a skirt with a little flare that hugs my hips. When you wear full skirts, it is important to show some skin so I decided to wear a fitted cardigan that I unbuttoned to show some cleavage. When it comes to layering outerwear in the winter you can layer your favorite spring jackets such as denim or leather jackets under your wool coats. I decided to layer a denim jacket under a brown overcoat that I accessorized with a faux fur scarf. It was a very warm last weekend so I skipped the tights and choose a pair of cognac booties that matched the stripes in the skirt.

Every time I wear this shirtdress I am reminded that I have to buy more dresses for winter so I won't wear this one so much but I have to admit I love it. It is my go to dress every Winter probably because it has my favorite combinations of colors. On this day I swapped out the belt that came with it for a wide corset belt to cinch me it and hide any lumps and bumps. The skirt of the dress has a high low hem so I paired it with my over the knee boots.

After a long extra weekend due to President's holiday I was fully rejuvenated when classes were back in session at the middle of the week. I would say I wear about 10% of my actual wardrobe but 90% what I actually wear is either black , grey, white. Earlier in the week I wore my beloved liquid legging with a oversized polka dot shirt that I had for about three years now that is super roomy and comfortable. I tried to offset the big shirt by topping it off with my streamlined leather contrast sleeve coat. I added a pop of bright green neon to my overall black, white and grey look. I did not want to carry my worldly possessions with me on this day so I choose small tote bag that I wore across my body.

A white shirt is essential in every women's wardrobe. It is imperative that you owe at least two white shirts so you swap them out  because it does not stay stark white after a few wears. They can be added to any outfit to add a level of sophication.  This particular shirt I brought before my weight loss so I tied the tails of the shirt higher than usual so my waist doesn't disappear in the extra material. I wore my over the knee boots because they blend seamlessly with my denim/leather chaps, at first glance they look like thigh high boots I.e Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. I threw on a leather jacket to wear under my wool coat because it was beyond freezing on this day.

  It's where fashion meets functionality, the perfect combination.!!!!!
